Information:
Der Malteser-Ritterorden besaß die namensgebende Insel Malta von 1530 bis 1798. Malta war britisch von 1800 bis 1964. Seit 2008 ist der Euro gesetzliches Zahlungsmittel auf Malta.

Der Ritterorden besteht noch heute, ohne aber über ein Staatsgebiet zu verfügen. Im Jahre 1961 nahm er die 1798 eingestellte Münzprägung wieder auf. Bei den modernen Stücken handelt es sich aber nicht um Geld, sondern um Pseudomünzen für Sammler.

Fra Hugues, Kardinal Loubenx de Verdale (auch Loubens oder Hugo Lobesius Verdalius (* 13. April 1531 Loubens, † 4. Mai 1595 Rom), 1582 Großmeister, ab 1587 Kardinal. Sein Vorgänger verstarb am 12. Dezember 1581 in Rom. Sein Geburtsort, die Burg Loubens liegt in der Gascogne.
