Information:
Die reichen Gipsvorkommen bei Katzenstein, wurden schon seit dem Mittelalter ausgebeutet.
Die Dt. Gipskomagnie hat 1913 mehr als 10 000 Aktion herausgegeben, im Jahr 1923 wurden Scheine mit 25 Goldpfennig ausgegeben, ebenfalls in dem Jahr gab es Notgeld.
 Auf dem Gelände der ehemaligen Dt. Gips-Compagnie befindet sich seit 1947 die Fa. Hilliges.
