Moschus wird in älteren Texten auch als Bisam bezeichnet und ist das getrocknete, pulverförmige und stark riechende Sekret aus dem haarigen Moschusbeutel vom männlichen Moschustier.
In der Medizin seit Jahrhunderten hoch geschätzt und in allen Pharmakopöen bis zum Ergänzungsbuch 6 zum DAB 6 1948 aufgeführt.
