Kiddusch bedeutet "Heiligung".

English version:
Cylindrical Kiddush cup from Göttingen. Exterior: Smooth base with partially worn gilding. Above this, the wall is decorated with snake skin-style punching; this area is not gilded. Above the rim, the wall is smooth again, with partially worn gilding. There is a Hebrew inscription:

“Remember and observe the Sabbath, to keep it holy,” “sachor u schamor et yom ha shabbat le kadd'scho”

The rim above is double profiled. Inside: The cup is smooth on the inside and completely gilded. Two marks under the cup: “G” with a crown, i.e. Göttingen inspection mark; and “MF”, with a dot above the M, so that the mark can be read as the master's mark of Johann (Hans, i.e. Iohann) Mühlenpfort, who acquired citizenship in November 1668.

The shape of the Kiddush cup is that of a set cup. This shape emerged in the 16th century, but only became widespread in the 17th century. They were usually produced in sets of six, ten, or twelve. The cup (or part or all of the set) probably came into Jewish possession and was inscribed with Hebrew lettering so that it could be used as a Kiddush cup. Similar 17th-century Kiddush cups with or without inscriptions can be found, for example, in the Jewish Museum in Frankfurt, the Israel Museum in Jerusalem, the Jewish Historical Museum in Amsterdam, the Jewish Museum in Prague, and the Brooklyn Museum in New York.
The Kiddush cup is filled with wine at home or in the synagogue, which is blessed and drunk at the beginning or end of Shabbat or on other holidays. Kiddush means “sanctification.”
