Die Kohlezeichnung von 1879 ist eine Vorstudie für die mindestens 80 als gesichert geltenden Bismarck-Bildnisse aus der Hand Lenbachs, die mit dem Auftrag von Wilhelm I. 1879 initiiert wurden. Häufige Anfertigung oder Wiederholung von Porträts typisch für den Künstler (vgl. Richard Wagner - 6.4.165/ mind. drei Fassungen nach dem Porträt-HA - 6.1.022).

Die (museale) Sammlung, bestehend aus Mobiliar und Hausgerät, Tafelgemälden, kleineren und größeren Antiken, Gipsabgüssen, kunsthandwerklichen Objekten aus Keramik und Glas und einer kleinen Bibliothek, befindet sich im Allmers-Haus in Rechtenfleth.
