Anmerkung:
Die Förderung und Verarbeitung von Gips geht in Ellrich bis ins 19. Jahrhundert zurück. 1869 wurde die Stadt ans überregionale Eisenbahnnetz angeschlossen. Zwischen dem Bahnhof und den Gipssteinbrüchen am südlichen Stadtrand entstanden mehrere Gipsfabriken, in denen zeitweise über 500 Menschen beschäftigt waren.
