Gewicht: 11,2 g</mods:extent></mods:physicalDescription><mods:abstract>Das Gehäuse der Kaurischnecke (Porzellanschnecke; Cypraeidae) wurde im Bereich der alten Siedlungslage Bremervördes gefunden, das sich nach 1646 an einen anderen Ort verlagerte. Das Gehäuse weist kaum noch Reste der ehemals porzellanartig glänzenden Oberfläche auf, was entweder durch Bodenlagerungsprozesse oder durch deren ehemalige Nutzung erklärt werden kann. Derartige Schnecken haben ihren Lebensraum vor allem im indopazifischen Gebiet (Ostafrika, Polynesien, Japan, Australien). Aus der frühen Neuzeit ist deren Verwendung als Schmuckelement in Europa bekannt. (Stefan Hesse 09/2021)
