Im Hintergrund das Brockenmassiv, links eine hohe Felskante. Links von der Bildmitte sitzt auf einem Felsbrocken direkt an der Talkante ein Mann.
Die wohl morgendliche Landschaftsdarstellung ist in ein warmes, gelbliches Licht gehüllt, der Himmel ist hell mit einigen mittelgrauen Wolken.  (Büttner)
